An inspiring conversation about a grassroots initiative that's making history more accessible for everyone. We're bringing together researchers, volunteers, and descendants to share an important project focused on digitizing records of United States Colored Troops who served during the Civil War. This project represents more than just digitizing documents; it's about connecting families to their heritage and ensuring these important stories are preserved. Whether you're interested in genealogy, history, or simply want to learn how small actions can make a big difference, this conversation is for you.

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Thomas Stone and Potomac Hundred Chapters are working to recognize African and African American patriots who played a vital role in the nation’s founding. In celebration of Black History Month, these chapters have donated the Recognizing Our Forgotten Patriots research collection to the Washington DC FamilySearch Center in Kensington, Maryland.
The Recognizing Our Forgotten Patriots collection will be freely accessible at the Washington DC FamilySearch Center, ensuring that students, historians, and families can learn about and honor these underrepresented patriots.
